Doris Jeanne McPherson Edgar

             Obituary found online

In honor of Doris “Dorie” Jeanne Edgar of Agoura Hills, California. Doris was born in Oak Park, IL and passed on July 1, 2021 at the age of 74. Her husband Clyde and her children were by her side to say goodbye after she was unable to recover from surgery.

Doris lived in Oak Park, near Chicago, with her parents Ellen and Charles McPherson and older sister Elizabeth until 1953 when the family moved to Linda Vista, California. The family then moved to Upland a few years later, and her little sister Laurel was born, making the family complete.

After graduating high school, Doris enrolled in Cal Poly Pomona in 1964 and it was there that she met the love of her life and future husband, Clyde Edgar Jr. The two were married in August of 1967 and started their life journey together.

The family grew and grew with children; first Katherine, then Clyde (Edward), then Chris, and Jennifer, and rounded out with the youngest, Heather. In the 70s the family settled in Agoura Hills and lived in the Hillrise neighborhood.

Doris was a very warm, nurturing mother and this kindness extended to include a career working with children as a teacher’s assistant in the Las Virgenes school district. She was also very active with her children’s activities and hobbies, and many locals will remember her at Boy and Girl Scout events, Highland dancing, soccer championships, school band performances, football games, karate promotion ceremonies, school fundraisers, and, on top of all of that, she was very involved with her special-needs son Eddie – devoting herself to his happiness.

She was an avid homemaker and talented baker. She could whip up just about anything on her sewing machine and was able to craft all types of things. She loved wildlife and gardening, often hand-making her own special wreaths to give away to loved ones. Doris really enjoyed the arts, culture and music and she was an avid reader.

Her loving family expanded to include 6 grandchildren, and she was blessed with many more extended family members through her children’s marriages. We will all miss her dearly.

There will be a Memorial on October 10th, 2021.
