Alex Rota




	Alex met his wife, Rickie, in the 5th grade while attending the Christ Episcopal Day School in Ontario, CA. They were married in 1968 and have have a wonderful daughter, April Elisabeth, born in 1982. She is the highlight and joy of their lives and now lives in Asheville, NC with her husband Robert Garmhausen whom Alex and Rickie adore along with his family. Following high school, Alex served in the US Navy for 4 years as a Hospital Corpsman & Vietnam Combat Corpsman in 1969. His employment through the years range from being a manager at Radio Shack in NC, Real Estate Broker, and civil construction. At one time, he was president of Sunbelt Management Services, Inc., a land development and home building company. Currently, he is a Public Notary, Real Estate Broker and the owner of Affordable Home Inspections.

Alex has a BA degree in Business Accounting from UNC in Charlott, NC. His education as also included developing raw land to finished lots, leadership development, real estate, public notary and Navy hospital corpsman.

For the last 25 years, Alex has worked on his own and with the St. Philips Episcopal Church, helping homeless women with children by offering housing, cell phones, transportation, food, clothing, counseling, love and encouragement to help them get stabilized, education, tourting, medical and psychiatric help. For this work, Alex was the receiver of the Humanitarian of The Year Award in 2013 in his community.

In 1968, he was stationed at the hospital in Camp Pendleton where he and Rickie lived in Ocean Side, CA. In 1969, they moved to Charlotte, NC where their daughter was born. They have been living in Durham, NC since 1985 and have no plans of leaving.
